Green Start Review
The Green Start Review is a confidential half day on-site assessment specific to the activities and operations of your business. Conducted by our qualified, registered auditors, it is designed to create a profile of your current safety, health and environmental performance.
As a result you will receive a report and priority action plan of suggested improvements with respect to current legislation, environmental impact and potential cost savings. |
Waste Audit
Our team of experts provide on-site consultancy and advice relevant to your waste streams. It will help you to understand, calculate and manage the true cost of waste - time, effort, raw materials, downtime, energy, packaging, liquid effluent, products and by-products as well as disposal costs.
The review will identify areas of potential improvement and best practice in terms of you waste and energy management. |
Energy Monitoring
With our specialist energy monitoring equipment, Groundwork can monitor the electricity consumption of a machine, process or event a entire building over a number of weeks.
You will then receive a detailed report into energy consumption on your site. This will identify unnecessary consumption and any abnormalities in the way that energy is used on your site. |
Bespoke Reviews
Groundwork can tailor analysis of your environmental or health and safety performance to suit your company's needs.
This may include analysis of impacts associated with the purchase of new machinery, a new process or your obligations under a specific piece of legislation, for example the Packaging or Oil Storage Regulations. |
ISO 14001
April 2003 saw the official launch of the new British Standard BS 8555, Guide to the Phased Implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS). This standard has grown from the success of Project Acorn, which was aimed at helping small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) to grow and develop their own environmental performance controls.
Groundwork is already playing an active role in the delivery of the BS 8555 methodology to businesses in the Oldham and Rochdale areas.
Services include on-site support and modular training sessions aimed at providing information to organisations on environmental protection, environmental management systems and the use of environmental performance indicators. Free Safety Advice for Retailers & Hospitality BusinessesMore working days are lost through injuries to staff within the retail & hospitality sectors than in the construction industries.
For many smaller retailers, food establishments, hotels, shops, pubs, restaurants and wholesalers keeping up to date with health & safety laws can seem like a massive task but free support & advice is now available.
Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale together with its partners, including Oldham Council, recently secured funding from the Health & Safety Executive's Workers' Safety Adviser (WSA) Challenge Fund which is designed to increase worker involvement and consultation with the aid of a Worker Safety Adviser
Launch events have been held in Oldham & Rochdale where a number of companies have already signed up to take part in the scheme. These businesses will have a dedicated Worker Safety Advisor who will review their current work practices, produce an action plan for improvement, and provide training opportunities and a telephone helpline.
The free scheme is available to small businesses based in Oldham or Rochdale and is supported by a wide range of partners including Rochdale Council, Asian Business Association (ABA), Kashmir Youth Project (KYP) and Voluntary Action Oldham.
Nicola Lace, Business Services Manager at Groundwork said, "To reduce the high accident and incident rates associated with retail and hospitality sectors it is essential that a company understand its true operational risks. This can only be generated from the employees, the people on the ‘shop floor'. The project will enable employees to get involved and make a difference."
